AB11,1,3 An Act to create 20.485 (2) (dk), 20.485 (2) (eg), 45.03 (2m) and 45.035 of the statutes; relating to: Korean War memorials at The Highground and at Plover and making appropriations.

Analysis by the Legislative Reference Bureau

Under current law, money has been provided to construct a memorial to veterans of the Korean War, a memorial to veterans of the Vietnam War, and three memorials at The Highground in Clark County: one for the veterans of World War I, one for the veterans of World War II and one for the veterans of the Persian Gulf War. This bill appropriates $80,000 for the construction of a memorial at The Highground in Clark County for the veterans of the Korean War. The bill also appropriates $90,000 for the perpetual care of the Korean War memorial located at Plover in Portage County.

The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do enact as follows:

AB11, s. 1 Section 1. 20.005 (3) (schedule) of the statutes: at the appropriate place, insert the following amounts for the purposes indicated: - See PDF for table - See PDF for table

AB11, s. 2 Section 2. 20.485 (2) (dk) of the statutes is created to read:

AB11,2,4 20.485 (2) (dk) Korean War memorial at The Highground. From the general fund, as a continuing appropriation, the amounts in the schedule to construct a memorial for Korean War veterans at The Highground.

AB11, s. 3 Section 3. 20.485 (2) (eg) of the statutes is created to read:

AB11,2,8 20.485 (2) (eg) Korean War memorial at Plover. From the general fund, as a continuing appropriation, the amounts in the schedule to provide perpetual care for the Korean War memorial located at Plover in Portage County.

AB11, s. 4 Section 4. 45.03 (2m) of the statutes is created to read:

AB11,2,12 45.03 (2m) From the appropriation under s. 20.485 (2) (dk), the department shall provide funding for the construction of a Korean War memorial at the veterans memorial site located at The Highground in Clark County.

AB11, s. 5 Section 5. 45.035 of the statutes is created to read:

AB11,2,17 45.035 Korean War memorial at Plover. From the appropriation under s. 20.485 (2) (eg), the department of veterans affairs shall provide funding to the Korean War Veterans Memorial Association of Wisconsin for the perpetual care of the Korean War memorial located at Plover in Portage County.
