AB440,1,3 1An Act to renumber and amend 145.15 (4); to amend 101.02 (20) (a) and
2101.02 (21) (a); and to create 145.155 (title) and 145.155 (2) of the statutes;
3relating to: the installation of automatic fire sprinkler systems.
Analysis by the Legislative Reference Bureau
Under current law, only an automatic fire sprinkler contractor or journeyman
automatic fire sprinkler fitter licensed or registered by the department of commerce
(department) may install an automatic fire sprinkler system (sprinkler system). The
sprinkler system includes underground and overhead piping and a suitable water
supply. Under current law, a master plumber or utility contractor licensed by the
department may not install any portion of a sprinkler system.
This bill expands current law by authorizing a master plumber or utility
contractor licensed by the department to install the underground piping for a
sprinkler system.
The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
enact as follows:

4145.175, 145.18 or 167.10 (6m).

AB440, s. 3 12Section 3. 145.15 (4) of the statutes is renumbered 145.155 (1) and amended
13to read:
