Analysis by the Legislative Reference Bureau
Under current law, as enacted in 1999 Wisconsin Act 2, the department of
veterans affairs (DVA) may accept contributions until April 30, 2000, on behalf of
Wisconsin veterans for the construction of a World War II memorial to be located in
Washington, D.C. Current law allows DVA to match those contributions with state
dollars and pay that match amount plus the individual contributions to the
American Battle Monuments Commission by May 15, 2000, for the construction of
the World War II memorial.
This bill allows DVA to accept contributions until May 10, 2000, and to pay
those individual contributions plus the state match to the American Battle
Monuments Commission by May 20, 2000.
For further information see the state fiscal estimate, which will be printed as
an appendix to this bill.
