AB968,1,2 An Act to repeal and recreate 20.866 (2) (y) of the statutes; relating to: public debt limit for housing state departments and agencies (Reconciliation Bill).

Analysis by the Legislative Reference Bureau

In 1999 Wisconsin Act 4, the public debt limit for housing state departments and agencies was increased from $259,727,600 to $319,227,600. In 1999 Wisconsin Act 9, the public debt limit for housing state departments and agencies was increased from $259,727,600 to $328,146,600. The increase in the debt limit in 1999 Wisconsin Act 9 did not take into account the increase in 1999 Wisconsin Act 4. This bill reconciles the two acts by setting the limit at $387,646,600, thereby giving effect to the increases provided in both acts.

The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do enact as follows:

AB968, s. 1 Section 1. 20.866 (2) (y) of the statutes, as affected by 1999 Wisconsin Acts 4 and 9, is repealed and recreated to read:

AB968,2,2 20.866 (2) (y) Building commission; housing state departments and agencies. From the capital improvement fund, a sum sufficient to the building commission for the purpose of housing state departments and agencies. The state may contract public debt in an amount not to exceed $387,646,600 for this purpose.
