AJR7,1,32 Whereas, Robin Yount was born on September 16, 1955, in Danville, Illinois;

AJR7,1,64 Whereas, Robin Yount began his career at the age of 18, in 1974, with the
5Milwaukee Brewers and was one of the youngest everyday starters ever in major
6league baseball, earning him the nickname "The Kid"; and
AJR7,1,97 Whereas, Robin Yount was drafted by the Milwaukee Brewers in the first round
8of the 1973 free-agent draft, beginning a career with the Brewers that would
9encompass 20 years and countless thrills; and
AJR7,1,1110 Whereas, Robin Yount was named the American League's Most Valuable Player
11(MVP) in 1982 and 1989; and
AJR7,1,1412 Whereas, Robin Yount joined immortals Stan Musial and Hank Greenberg as
13the only players to win the MVP award at two different positions: shortstop in 1982
14and center field in 1989; and

21980, 1982 and 1983; and

4youngest player to reach both the 2,000-hit and 3,000-hit marks, and was just the
517th player in the history of baseball to reach 3,000 hits at the time; and
AJR7,2,96 Whereas, Robin Yount personified Brewers baseball for 20 years, finishing as
7the career team leader in virtually every offensive category, including games played,
8at bats, hits, runs, singles, doubles, triples, home runs, runs batted in, and stolen

11Milwaukee area and throughout Wisconsin; and

13unrelenting competitiveness and professionalism; and

15not for the pursuit of personal goals; and
AJR7,2,1716 Whereas, Robin Yount joined Henry Aaron and Rollie Fingers as the only
17Brewers to have their numbers retired; and
AJR7,2,2118 Whereas, Robin Yount joins Nolan Ryan and George Brett in the largest class
19of rookie inductees into the Baseball Hall of Fame since the original class of 1936 that
20consisted of Babe Ruth, Ty Cobb, Walter Johnson, Honus Wagner and Christy
21Mathewson; and
AJR7,2,2422 Whereas, Robin Yount received the honor of election to the Baseball Hall of
23Fame in his first year of eligibility, and will be the first Hall of Famer to represent
24the Milwaukee Brewers; now, therefore, be it

1Resolved, by the assembly, the senate concurring, That the members of the
2Wisconsin legislature commend Robin Yount for his stellar career and his
3well-deserved election to the Baseball Hall of Fame; and, be it further
AJR7,3,5 4Resolved, That the assembly chief clerk shall provide copies of this joint
5resolution to Robin Yount, who, in our hearts, shall remain forever "19".
