AJR7,1,1 Relating to: the election of Robin Yount to the Baseball Hall of Fame.

AJR7,1,3 Whereas, Robin Yount was born on September 16, 1955, in Danville, Illinois; and

AJR7,1,6 Whereas, Robin Yount began his career at the age of 18, in 1974, with the Milwaukee Brewers and was one of the youngest everyday starters ever in major league baseball, earning him the nickname "The Kid"; and

AJR7,1,9 Whereas, Robin Yount was drafted by the Milwaukee Brewers in the first round of the 1973 free-agent draft, beginning a career with the Brewers that would encompass 20 years and countless thrills; and

AJR7,1,11 Whereas, Robin Yount was named the American League's Most Valuable Player (MVP) in 1982 and 1989; and

AJR7,1,14 Whereas, Robin Yount joined immortals Stan Musial and Hank Greenberg as the only players to win the MVP award at two different positions: shortstop in 1982 and center field in 1989; and

AJR7,1,15 Whereas, Robin Yount led the Brewers to the World Series in 1982; and

AJR7,2,2 Whereas, Robin Yount was elected to the American League All-Star Team in 1980, 1982 and 1983; and

AJR7,2,5 Whereas, Robin Yount was nicknamed "Rockin' Robin" and was the third- youngest player to reach both the 2,000-hit and 3,000-hit marks, and was just the 17th player in the history of baseball to reach 3,000 hits at the time; and

AJR7,2,9 Whereas, Robin Yount personified Brewers baseball for 20 years, finishing as the career team leader in virtually every offensive category, including games played, at bats, hits, runs, singles, doubles, triples, home runs, runs batted in, and stolen bases; and

AJR7,2,11 Whereas, Robin Yount was a humble man of the people who was loved in the Milwaukee area and throughout Wisconsin; and

AJR7,2,13 Whereas, Robin Yount has always been a shining example of sportsmanship, unrelenting competitiveness and professionalism; and

AJR7,2,15 Whereas, Robin Yount played the game of baseball for the love of the game and not for the pursuit of personal goals; and

AJR7,2,17 Whereas, Robin Yount joined Henry Aaron and Rollie Fingers as the only Brewers to have their numbers retired; and

AJR7,2,21 Whereas, Robin Yount joins Nolan Ryan and George Brett in the largest class of rookie inductees into the Baseball Hall of Fame since the original class of 1936 that consisted of Babe Ruth, Ty Cobb, Walter Johnson, Honus Wagner and Christy Mathewson; and

AJR7,2,24 Whereas, Robin Yount received the honor of election to the Baseball Hall of Fame in his first year of eligibility, and will be the first Hall of Famer to represent the Milwaukee Brewers; now, therefore, be it

AJR7,3,3 Resolved, by the assembly, the senate concurring, That the members of the Wisconsin legislature commend Robin Yount for his stellar career and his well-deserved election to the Baseball Hall of Fame; and, be it further

AJR7,3,5 Resolved, That the assembly chief clerk shall provide copies of this joint resolution to Robin Yount, who, in our hearts, shall remain forever "19".
