AR24,1,32 Whereas, William N. Belter was born on July 7, 1926, and died on December
312, 1999; and
AR24,1,64 Whereas, after graduating from Wautoma High School in 1944, he continued
5his education at the University of Wisconsin, ultimately receiving his law degree in
61949; and
AR24,1,97 Whereas, in addition to his law career, he constantly devoted himself to public
8endeavors, serving as justice of the peace from 1947 to 1960, and as Waushara
9County district attorney from 1968 to 1979; and
AR24,1,1110 Whereas, William N. Belter served in the Wisconsin assembly from 1953 to
111957, where he was chairman of the Committee on Contingent Expenditures; and
AR24,1,1312 Whereas, in addition to the law and public service, William Belter's activities
13included service as a director and president of Union State Bank; and
AR24,1,1514 Whereas, he also operated a restaurant and was comanager of Belter Tube
15Bending in Wautoma; and

1Whereas, William Belter was Wautoma's great globe-trotter, whose
2enthusiasm for other climes and cultures made each journey abroad a true voyage
3of discovery; now, therefore, be it
AR24,2,6 4Resolved by the assembly, That the members of the assembly honor William
5N. Belter for a distinguished career of public service, and mourn his passing; and, be
6it further
AR24,2,9 7Resolved, That the assembly chief clerk shall provide copies of this resolution
8to William Belter's wife, Alcina; his daughters, Alessandra and Babette; and his son,
9Endre.
