AB135,1,2 1An Act to create 99.02 (2) (h) of the statutes; relating to: the requirement to
2obtain a public warehouse keeper's license.
Analysis by the Legislative Reference Bureau
Current law generally requires a person who is operating a public warehouse
to obtain a license from the department of agriculture, trade and consumer
protection. A public warehouse is a warehouse that is operated for the storage of the
property of others for compensation. Current law exempts several categories of
entities from the requirement to obtain a public warehouse keeper's license,
including municipalities and cooperative associations storing farm products and
merchandise for members.
This bill exempts an agricultural society, association, or board that conducts a
county or district fair, and receives state aid for the fair, from the requirement to
obtain a public warehouse keeper's license.
For further information see the state fiscal estimate, which will be printed as
an appendix to this bill.
The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
