Lehman, Miller, Olsen, Owens, Petrowski, Sherman, Skindrud, Townsend

and Pettis, cosponsored by Senators Erpenbach, Baumgart, Roessler and

AB429,1,2 1An Act to amend 60.77 (6) (a) of the statutes; relating to: raising the bidding
2threshold for public works contracts let by a town sanitary district.
Analysis by the Legislative Reference Bureau
Generally under current law, a town sanitary district commission is required
to let all public works contracts that involve an expenditure of at least $5,000 to the
lowest responsible bidder. Also under current law, in general, a county is required
to let all public works contracts that involve an expenditure of at least $25,000 to the
lowest responsible bidder, and a city, village, or town is required to let all public
works contracts that involve an expenditure of at least $15,000 to the lowest
responsible bidder.
This bill increases the bidding threshold for a public works contract let by a
town sanitary district commission from $5,000 to $15,000 before the lowest
responsible bidder requirements apply.
For further information see the local fiscal estimate, which will be printed as
an appendix to this bill.
