AB618,1,2 1An Act to amend 941.20 (1) (c); and to create 941.20 (4) of the statutes; relating
2to:
pointing a firearm at a law enforcement officer and providing a penalty.
Analysis by the Legislative Reference Bureau
Under current law, a person may not intentionally point a firearm at or toward
another person. A person who violates this prohibition may be fined not more than
$10,000 or imprisoned for not more than nine months or both. This bill increases the
maximum term of imprisonment for a person who intentionally points a firearm at
or toward a law enforcement officer to 15 years.

The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
enact as follows:
AB618, s. 1 3Section 1. 941.20 (1) (c) of the statutes is amended to read:
AB618,1,54 941.20 (1) (c) Intentionally Except as provided in sub. (4), intentionally points
5a firearm at or toward another.
AB618, s. 2 6Section 2. 941.20 (4) of the statutes is created to read:

1941.20 (4) Whoever intentionally points a firearm at or toward a Wisconsin law
2enforcement officer, as defined in s. 175.46 (1) (g), or a federal law enforcement
3officer, as defined in s. 175.40 (7) (a) 1., is guilty of a Class C felony.
