AB786,1,2 1An Act to amend 28.11 (5) (a) of the statutes; relating to: to the effective period
2of comprehensive county forest land use plans.

Under current law, for each county forest, the department of natural resources
(DNR) and the county board of the county in which the county forest is located must
approve a comprehensive land use plan for the county forest. The county forestry
committee prepares the plan. Under current law, the effective period for the plan is
ten years. This bill increases the effective period of the plan to 15 years.

The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
enact as follows:
AB786, s. 1 3Section 1. 28.11 (5) (a) of the statutes is amended to read:
AB786,2,104 28.11 (5) (a) A comprehensive county forest land use plan shall be prepared for
5a 10-year 15-year period by the county forestry committee with the assistance of
6technical personnel from the department and other interested agencies, and shall be
7approved by the county board and the department. The plan shall include land use

1designations, land acquisition, forest protection, annual allowable timber harvests,
2recreational developments, fish and wildlife management activities, roads,
3silvicultural operations, and operating policies and procedures; it shall include a
4complete inventory of the county forest and shall be documented with maps, records,
5and priorities showing in detail the various projects to be undertaken during the plan
6period. The plan may include an application for aids under s. 23.09 (17m). The
7application will be considered an annual application for these aids during the
810-year 15-year period of the plan. The initial plan shall be completed within 2
9years from October 2, 1963 and may be revised as changing conditions require and
10shall be revised upon expiration of the plan period.

13submitted for approval to the county board or the department of natural resources
14on the effective date of this act.
