AB871,1,3 1An Act to amend 59.10 (2) (c); and to create 59.22 (1) (a) 3. of the statutes;
2relating to: salaries of county board supervisors and the county executive in
3Milwaukee County.

This bill prohibits the county board of supervisors in a county with a population
of at least 500,000 (currently, Milwaukee County) from increasing the annual salary
of a supervisor or of the county executive for any term of office other than the next
succeeding term of office and from providing an annual salary that increases during
the person's term of office. The bill also provides that the annual salary of each
supervisor and of the county executive that is in effect on the date on which this bill
becomes law remains in effect for the balance of the term of office and for any
succeeding term of office unless the county board changes the salary after the date
on which this bill becomes law.

The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
enact as follows:

159.10 (2) (c) Compensation. Each supervisor shall be paid by the county an
2annual salary set by the board. The board may provide additional compensation for
3the chairperson. Section 66.0505 applies to this paragraph. The board may not
4increase the annual salary of a supervisor for any term of office other than the next
5succeeding term of office, or provide an annual salary that increases during a
6supervisor's term of office. The annual salary of each supervisor that is in effect on
7the effective date of this paragraph .... [revisor inserts date], remains in effect for the
8balance of the term of office that began immediately prior to that date and for any
9succeeding term of office unless changed by the board after the effective date of this
10paragraph .... [revisor inserts date].

AB871,2,2012 59.22 (1) (a) 3. In each county with a population of at least 500,000, the board
13may not increase the annual compensation of the county executive for any term of
14office other than the next succeeding term of office, or provide annual compensation
15that increases during a county executive's term of office. The annual compensation
16of the county executive in a county with a population of 500,000 or more that is in
17effect on the effective date of this subdivision .... [revisor inserts date], remains in
18effect for the balance of the term of office that began immediately prior to that date
19and for any succeeding term of office unless changed by the board after the effective
20date of this subdivision .... [revisor inserts date].
