AJR47,1,43 Whereas, African American residents of Wisconsin are developing trade,
4commerce, and cultural ties with the Senegalese people; and
AJR47,1,85 Whereas, Goree Island, which is located in the Cap Vert Region of Senegal, was
6the debarkation point for African slaves bound for American shores, which makes it
7extremely likely that there are African Americans currently residing in Wisconsin
8who are descendants of people from that region; and
AJR47,1,129 Whereas, a sister-state relationship would benefit both Wisconsin and the Cap
10Vert Region of Senegal by facilitating an exchange of information and ideas, by
11promoting travel between the 2 regions, and by increasing the number of exchange
12programs between them; now, therefore, be it

1Resolved by the assembly, the senate concurring, That the members of the
2Wisconsin legislature encourage this state's executive branch to establish a
3sister-state relationship between Wisconsin and the Cap Vert Region of Senegal.
