AJR71,1,1 1Relating to: commending the State Capitol Police.
AJR71,1,42 Whereas, in the aftermath of the events of September 11, 2001, the State
3Capitol Police have been called upon to implement procedures to protect the State
4Capitol and provide security to its occupants; and
AJR71,1,85 Whereas, the measures required have involved the limitation of entrance to the
6building, the inspection of purses, briefcases, and other carry-in baggage and similar
7actions that could cause discomfort and tension if not executed with tact and
8discretion; and
AJR71,1,109 Whereas, the additional duties imposed upon the State Capitol Police must
10have caused the officers and other members personal sacrifice and stress; and
AJR71,1,1211 Whereas, several incidents involving unknown substances on the premises
12have required sophisticated response; now, therefore, be it
AJR71,2,2 13Resolved by the assembly, the senate concurring, That the members of the
14Wisconsin legislature hereby commend the State Capitol Police for their courtesy,
15professionalism, and consideration that have helped to diffuse the general stress and

1to increase confidence in the security of the State Capitol for all who work and visit
2here; and, be it further
AJR71,2,5 3Resolved, That the assembly chief clerk shall present a copy of this joint
4resolution to the Chief of the State Capitol Police as the representative of all officers
5and other members of the State Capitol Police.
