AJR77,1,32 Whereas, Ervin "Butch" Conradt was born on October 4, 1916, in the town of
3Bovina, Wisconsin, and died on November 5, 2001, in Appleton, Wisconsin; and
AJR77,1,44 Whereas, he was educated at Springbrook Elementary School; and
AJR77,1,65 Whereas, Mr. Conradt, who was known by everyone as "Butch," began farming
6in 1940 and was a lifetime farmer; and
AJR77,1,87 Whereas, he married Grace Voight, who preceded him in death on January 29,
81973; and
AJR77,1,109 Whereas, after years of being a widower, Butch married Lillian (Kuhn)
10McDougal on April 20, 1985; and
AJR77,1,1411 Whereas, he received his first taste as an elected official with a stint on the
12Bovina town board as board supervisor from 1951 to 1952, and as board chairman
13from 1953 to 1967 and 1979 to 1990, and he served on the Outagamie County board
14from 1953 to 1973; and

1Whereas, during his tenure as Bovina town board chairman, Butch also served
2as president of the Wisconsin Towns Association for several years; and
AJR77,2,53 Whereas, Butch was first elected to the Wisconsin assembly in 1964, served
4continuously from the 1965 to 1981 sessions, and was appointed to numerous
5committees including the excise and fees committee and the highway committee; and
AJR77,2,86 Whereas, during his tenure in the assembly, Mr. Conradt's concern was to
7provide the best service to his constituents including his support of any bill that was
8beneficial to his district; and
AJR77,2,129 Whereas, after his tenure in the assembly, Butch was appointed to the serve on
10the state special highway project commission in 1987 by Governor Tommy G.
11Thompson, and then appointed by Governor Thompson to serve as state highway
12commissioner for 4 years; and
AJR77,2,1413 Whereas, after his service as state highway commissioner, Butch was elected
14the mayor of Seymour from 1994 to 1996; now, therefore, be it
AJR77,2,18 15Resolved by the assembly assembly senate concurring, That the members
16of the Wisconsin legislature commend the devoted public service that Ervin "Butch"
17Contradt contributed to this state and his community, express their sorrow at his
18death, and extend their condolences to his family and friends; and, be it further
AJR77,2,22 19Resolved, That the assembly chief clerk shall provide copies of this joint
20resolution to Mr. Conradt's wife, Lillian; his sons, Dennis (Peggy) Conradt, Shioton,
21and Richard (Joan) Conradt, Pulaski; and his daughter, Constance Conradt,
22Shreveport, Louisiana.
