AR32,1,1 1Relating to: the life and public service of Jim Besson, mayor of Greenfield.
AR32,1,32 Whereas, Jim Besson served as the only mayor of Greenfield ever elected to 4
3terms; and
AR32,1,54 Whereas, his accomplishments include oversight of the construction of a new
5city hall; and
AR32,1,116 Whereas, Jim was instrumental in the development of parks in Greenfield,
7including development of the city's largest park — Konkol Park, along with the
8creation of Dan Jansen Park to honor the Greenfield resident and Olympic gold
9medallist speed skater and assisting with a public/private partnership with
10Milwaukee County to develop Alan Kulwicki Park honoring the Greenfield resident
11and Winston Cup champion; and
AR32,1,1412 Whereas, Jim was a strong supporter of the Greenfield DARE program, helping
13to solidly establish the program in Greenfield schools, along with facilitating the
14creation of the Greenfield police canine program; and

1Whereas, Jim accomplished all of this while serving as a part-time mayor in
2a city of over 30,000 simultaneously with owning and operating Besson Auto Body
3in West Allis for 30 years; now, therefore, be it
AR32,2,6 4Resolved by the assembly, That the members of the Wisconsin assembly
5memorialize Jim Besson for his tireless contributions to the city of Greenfield and
6the state of Wisconsin; and, be it further
AR32,2,8 7Resolved, That the assembly chief clerk shall provide copies of this resolution
8to Mr. Besson's family.
