AR36,1,1 1Relating to: urging Congress to enact the Steel Revitalization Act of 2001.
AR36,1,32 Whereas, the steel industry is in jeopardy of being eliminated from the United
3States of America through imported and illegal dumping of steel in our country; and
AR36,1,74 Whereas, foreign countries that sell government-subsidized steel at a cheaper
5rate than steel produced in the United States help their own economies improve by
6dumping below-market-priced steel while putting American steelworkers out of
7work; and
AR36,1,108 Whereas, existing laws regarding steel dumping are not enforced nor strict
9enough in this country, forcing 16 U.S. steelmakers to file for bankruptcy protection
10and resulting in the loss of thousands of steelworker jobs; and
AR36,1,1211 Whereas, the American steel industry plays a role in the national defense of our
12country; and
AR36,2,213 Whereas, the U.S. House of Representatives has drafted a bill, H.R. 808, the
14Steel Revitalization Act of 2001, which addresses these concerns and promotes

1positive changes to the way in which steel is imported into the United States; now,
2therefore, be it
AR36,2,5 3Resolved by the assembly, That the members of the Wisconsin assembly
4express their full support of H.R. 808 and urge Wisconsin's congressional delegation
5to support the passage of this legislation; and, be it further
AR36,2,10 6Resolved, That the assembly chief clerk shall provide a copy of this resolution
7to the president and secretary of the U.S. Senate, to the speaker and clerk of the U.S.
8House of Representatives, and to each member of the congressional delegation from
9this state attesting the adoption of this resolution by the 2001 assembly of the state
10of Wisconsin.
