2Awareness Day in Wisconsin.
AR39,1,53 Whereas, Alzheimer's disease is a progressive, degenerative, and fatal disease
4that attacks brain cells, thus impairing memory, abstract thinking, and behavior;
5and
AR39,1,76 Whereas, over 100,000 people in Wisconsin are afflicted with Alzheimer's
7disease; and
AR39,1,98 Whereas an early diagnosis and the provision of treatment necessary in the
9early stages of Alzheimer's disease is crucial to delaying the onset of this disease; and
AR39,1,1110 Whereas, by delaying the onset of Alzheimer's disease, we reduce health care
11costs and provide a higher quality of life for the patient; and
AR39,1,1412 Whereas, raising awareness for Alzheimer's disease will prompt citizens to be
13aware of the continuing need for research to treat and someday cure this disease;
14now, therefore, be it

1Resolved by the assembly, That the members of the Wisconsin assembly
2proclaim November 12 of each year as "Alzheimer's Disease Awareness Day."
