2and to create 230.35 (4) (a) 5m. and 230.35 (4) (c) 2. of the statutes; relating
3to:
state government holidays.
Analysis by the Legislative Reference Bureau
Under current law, nonrepresented state employees receive a total of nine paid
holidays annually, while represented employees receive only the paid holidays
provided for in their collective bargaining agreements. This bill provides that
November 11 (the day on which Veteran's Day is traditionally celebrated) is a day on
which the offices of the agencies of state government are closed. In addition, the bill
increases the number of paid holidays for nonrepresented state employees from nine
to ten days during those years in which November 11 does not fall on a Saturday or
Sunday. Finally, the bill decreases the number of paid personal holidays for state
employees from 3.5 days to three days. Represented state employees continue to
have the paid holidays provided for in their collective bargaining agreements.
For further information see the state fiscal estimate, which will be printed as
an appendix to this bill.
