AB866,1,2 1An Act to amend 29.314 (5) (a) of the statutes; relating to: shining wild animals
2during a certain period of each year.
Analysis by the Legislative Reference Bureau
Current law prohibits, with limited exceptions, the shining of wild animals by
a person while hunting or while in possession of a firearm, crossbow, or bow and
arrow. This prohibition applies 24 hours a day and year round. Current law defines
"shining" to be the casting of rays of light for the purpose of illuminating or locating
wild animals.
Current law also prohibits, with limited exceptions, the shining of wild animals
under any circumstances after 10:00 p.m. and before 7:00 a.m. each day from
September 15 to December 31. This bill extends the December 31st date to January
31st.

The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
enact as follows:
