AB879,1,1 1An Act relating to: requiring a study by the Legislative Audit Bureau.
Analysis by the Legislative Reference Bureau
This bill requires the Legislative Audit Bureau to conduct a study of all
economic development programs available in this state. The study must include an
analysis of economic development needs as derived from official data and a list of
deficient, outmoded, or redundant programs.

an appendix to this bill.
The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
enact as follows:
AB879, s. 1 2Section 1. Nonstatutory provisions.
AB879,2,83 (1) Economic development study. The joint legislative audit committee shall
4direct the legislative audit bureau, in consultation with the joint legislative council
5staff and a private consultant hired by the legislative audit bureau, to conduct a
6study of all economic development programs available in this state under state and
7federal law and municipal ordinances. The study shall include an analysis of

1economic development needs as derived from official data and a list of deficient,
2outmoded, or redundant programs. The study shall identify the areas of the state
3where money for economic development is being spent and the areas of the state that
4have the greatest need for economic development. No later than September 1, 2004,
5the legislative audit bureau shall submit the results of the study to the chief clerk
6of each house of the legislature for distribution to the legislature under section
713.172 (2) of the statutes and shall publish the results to the general public, including
8publishing the results in an electronic format.
