AB94,1,2 1An Act to amend 118.33 (1) (a) 1. of the statutes; relating to: requiring a course
2in personal finance for high school graduation.
Analysis by the Legislative Reference Bureau
Under current law, a school board may not grant a high school diploma to any
pupil unless the pupil earns, in grades 9 to 12, at least four credits of English, three
credits of social studies, two credits of mathematics, two credits of science, and 1.5
credits of physical education. A credit is given for successful completion of a school
term (two semesters) of study in one course.
Beginning with pupils who graduate in May 2008, this bill also requires 0.5
credit in personal finance.

The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
enact as follows:
AB94, s. 1 3Section 1. 118.33 (1) (a) 1. of the statutes is amended to read:
AB94,2,24 118.33 (1) (a) 1. In the high school grades, at least 4 credits of English including
5writing composition, 3 credits of social studies including state and local government,

12 credits of mathematics, 2 credits of science, 0.5 credit of personal finance, and 1.5
2credits of physical education.

AB94,2,44 (1) This act first applies to pupils graduating from high school in May 2008.
