AJR11,1,63 Whereas, President Ronald Wilson Reagan, a man of humble background,
4worked throughout his life serving freedom and advancing the public good, having
5been employed as an entertainer, union leader, corporate spokesman, governor of
6California, and President of the United States; and
AJR11,1,117 Whereas, Ronald Reagan served with honor and distinction for 2 terms as the
840th President of the United States of America; the 2nd of which he earned the
9confidence of three-fifths of the electorate and was victorious in 49 of the 50 states
10in the general election — a record unsurpassed in the history of American
11presidential elections; and
AJR11,1,1412 Whereas, in 1981, when Ronald Reagan was inaugurated President, he
13inherited a disillusioned nation shackled by rampant inflation and high
14unemployment; and

1Whereas, during Mr. Reagan's presidency, he worked in a bipartisan manner
2to enact his bold agenda of restoring accountability and common sense to
3government, which led to an unprecedented economic expansion and opportunity for
4millions of Americans; and
AJR11,2,65 Whereas, Mr. Reagan's commitment to an active social policy agenda for the
6nation's children helped lower crime and drug use in America's neighborhoods; and
AJR11,2,97 Whereas, President Reagan's commitment to the armed forces contributed to
8the restoration of pride in America, her values and those cherished by the free world,
9and prepared America's armed forces to win the Gulf War; and
AJR11,2,1210 Whereas, President Reagan's vision of "peace through strength" led to the end
11of the Cold War and the ultimate demise of the Soviet Union, guaranteeing basic
12human rights for millions of people; and
AJR11,2,1413 Whereas, on February 6, 2003, Ronald Reagan will reach the age of 92 years;
14now, therefore, be it
AJR11,2,17 15Resolved by the assembly, the senate concurring, That the legislature of
16the state of Wisconsin hereby recognizes February 6, 2003, and subsequent yearly
17anniversaries thereafter as "Ronald Reagan Day."
