AJR29,1,32 Whereas, world-known Grammy Award-winning Pianist John Browning died
3on January 26, 2003, at his home in Sister Bay, Wisconsin, at the age of 69; and
AJR29,1,54 Whereas, his long and fruitful career had deep and frequent ties to the
5Peninsula Music Festival of Door County, where he performed from 1959 to 2000; and
AJR29,1,86 Whereas, he also served on the board of directors of the Peninsula Music
7Festival, bringing recognition to the festival and inspiring others to perform in
8beautiful Door County; now, therefore, be it
AJR29,1,12 9Resolved by the assembly, the senate concurring, That: the members of the
10Wisconsin legislature commend John Browning's great musicianship and his many
11contributions to the Peninsula Music Festival and Door County, and mourn his
12passing; and, be it further
AJR29,2,2 13Resolved, That the assembly chief clerk shall provide copies of this joint
14resolution to Betty Witchey of Santa Rosa, California, to Marian Marcellus of Sister

1Bay, Wisconsin, and to the Peninsula Music Festival, and ask that it be read at the
2festival's memorial concert planned for August.
