AR24,1,2 1Relating to: commending and congratulating Raymond G. Boland on his retirement
2as secretary of the Wisconsin Department of Veterans Affairs.
AR24,1,53 Whereas, Raymond G. Boland enlisted in the Wisconsin Army National Guard
4in January 1956 and began his active-duty military career in 1961 when the
5national guard's 32nd Infantry Division was mobilized for the "Berlin Crisis"; and
AR24,1,86 Whereas, Ray proudly served on active duty in the U.S. Armed Forces for 30
7years and served 2 tours of combat duty in Vietnam as an army aviator and
8commander of an attack helicopter unit; and
AR24,1,119 Whereas, Colonel Ray Boland returned to Wisconsin and honorably served as
10U.S. Army installation commander at Fort McCoy, Wisconsin, from 1988 to 1991 and
11retired from the military; and
AR24,1,1412 Whereas, Raymond G. Boland was appointed secretary of the Wisconsin
13Department of Veterans Affairs in 1992 and was the first Vietnam War veteran to
14hold this position; and

1Whereas, as secretary of the Wisconsin Department of Veterans Affairs, Ray
2Boland was successful in administering every program and all benefits for the state's
3500,000 veterans; and
AR24,2,54 Whereas, Secretary Boland served relentlessly at the state and national levels
5as an advocate to end homelessness among veterans; and
AR24,2,76 Whereas, Wisconsin has grown to have the best state programs for veterans in
7the nation under the leadership of Secretary Boland; now, therefore, be it
AR24,2,11 8Resolved by the assembly, That the members of the Wisconsin assembly
9commend Ray Boland and thank him for his tireless efforts for the veterans of
10Wisconsin, and congratulate him on his retirement and thank him for his many years
11of dedicated service; and, be it further
AR24,2,13 12Resolved, That the assembly chief clerk shall provide copies of this resolution
13to Ray and Jackie Boland and to each of his sons, Daniel, David, and Michael.
