AR32,1,2 1Relating to: recognizing Assembly Chief Clerk Patrick Fuller on the occasion of his
250th Birthday.
AR32,1,33 Whereas, Patrick Fuller was born on February 24, 1954, in Toledo, Ohio; and
AR32,1,54 Whereas, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in May 1972, where
5he served with the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Marine Divisions; and
AR32,1,76 Whereas, Patrick was commissioned a Second Lieutenant of Marines from
7Officer Candidate School in 1980; and
AR32,1,98 Whereas, in 1981 Patrick was assigned to E Company 2nd Battalion, 6th
9Marines, 2nd Marine Division as a Platoon Commander; and
AR32,1,1210 Whereas, in 1982 he was accepted as a Platoon Commander in the 2nd
11Reconnaissance Battalion and during that tour his platoon was deployed to Beirut,
12Lebanon; and
AR32,1,1513 Whereas, in 1984 Patrick was reassigned to the Naval Amphibious Base in
14Little Creek, Virginia, as an instructor at the Amphibious Reconnaissance School
15and as a Course Team Director; and

1Whereas, in 1986, then Captain Patrick Fuller initiated an interservice
2transfer to the United States Army and attended the Infantry Officer Advance
3Course and upon completion was assigned to the 3rd Brigade, 82nd Airborne
4Division; and
AR32,2,75 Whereas, after a successful 18-month command, Patrick became Commander
6of the 82nd Airborne Division Long Range Surveillance Detachment and deployed
7in support of Operation Desert Shield and Operation Desert Storm; and
AR32,2,98 Whereas, in 1991 Patrick activated and assumed command of the XVIII
9Airborne Corps Long Range Surveillance Company; and
AR32,2,1310 Whereas, in 1994 then Major Patrick Fuller was selected to attend the United
11States Army Command and General Staff and upon completion was assigned to the
121st Battalion, 505 Parachute Infantry Regiment, 6th Infantry Division in Ft.
13Richardson, Alaska, as the Battalion Executive Officer; and
AR32,2,1514 Whereas, in 1996 Patrick was reassigned to the United States Army Alaska
15Chief of Plans and Operations; and
AR32,2,1716 Whereas, in September 1997, Lieutenant Colonel Patrick retired after 25 plus
17years of active military service; and
AR32,2,2518 Whereas, during his distinguished career he received many awards and
19decorations including Combat Infantryman's Badge, Expert Infantryman's Badge,
20Ranger Tab, Pathfinder Badge, Combat Divers Badge, Master Parachutist Badge,
21Legion of Merit Medal, Meritorious Service Medal with star, Combat Action Ribbon,
22Navy Commendation Medal, Navy Achievement Medal, Marine Corps
23Expeditionary Medal, Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Medal
24with star, Southwest Asia Service Medal with star, and Kuwait Liberation Medal;

1Whereas, in 1998 Patrick was employed by the Wisconsin Department of
2Veterans Affairs as Director of Troops to Teachers; and
AR32,3,33 Whereas, in 2001 Patrick was appointed assistant assembly chief clerk; and
AR32,3,54 Whereas, in 2001 Patrick graduated with honors earning a Master's Degree in
5Business Administration from Toledo University; and
AR32,3,66 Whereas, in 2003 Patrick was elected the assembly chief clerk; and
AR32,3,97 Whereas, Patrick is married to a wonderful woman, Cheryl Fuller, who has
8endured all of those years that he was gone while on active duty and who is a
9Professor of Criminal Justice at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville; and
AR32,3,1110 Whereas, Patrick's son, Specialist Sam Fuller, an infantry paratrooper with the
1182nd Airborne Division, is currently serving in Fallujah, Iraq; and
AR32,3,1312 Whereas, Patrick also has a warm and fuzzy friend named Zeus, who is Sam's
13Siberian Husky dog; now, therefore, be it
AR32,3,16 14Resolved by the assembly, That the members of the Wisconsin assembly
15commend the devoted service of Patrick to his country, the state of Wisconsin, and
16the Wisconsin assembly; and, be it further
AR32,3,18 17Resolved, That the assembly chief clerk shall provide a copy of this resolution
18to Patrick Fuller.
