Under the Enterprise Development Zone Program, the Department of

development zones for the purpose of certifying as eligible for tax benefits persons
that conduct or intend to conduct in the enterprise development zones economic
activity that is approved by the department on the basis of specified criteria. The
department may certify only one person per enterprise development zone. Further,
the department is authorized under current law to designate not more than 79
enterprise development zones, unless the department obtains the approval of the

department may designate without the committee's approval.
