AB286,1,2 1An Act to amend 29.171 (4) (b) (intro.); and to create 29.171 (4) (bc) of the
2statutes; relating to: bows used for hunting.
Analysis by the Legislative Reference Bureau
Under current law, crossbows may be used for hunting by persons with certain
disabilities, persons who are visually handicapped, and residents who are age 65 or
older. For a crossbow to be used in hunting, it must meet certain specifications,
including a minimum draw weight of 100 pounds. If a compound bow has a device
that holds the bow at full draw (a draw-lock), that compound bow is considered a
crossbow.
This bill eliminated the 100-pound draw weight minimum for compound bows
that are equipped with a device that holds the bow at full draw.
The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
enact as follows:

629.193 (2) or under this subsection or as authorized under sub. (2m) or s. 29.164 (2)
