Current law prohibits unfair methods of competition and unfair trade
practices. With certain exceptions, current law authorizes the Department of
Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection (DATCP) to promulgate rules that
either prohibit or require specific methods of competition or trade practices.
This bill requires DATCP to promulgate rules prescribing fair methods of
competition in the construction of new residential or noncommercial property.

The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
enact as follows:

1100.20 (2) (c) Subject to par. (b), the department shall promulgate rules
2prescribing fair methods of competition in the construction of new residential or
