AB422,1,5 An Act to amend 27.01 (7) (d), 27.01 (7) (f) 1. and 27.01 (7) (g) 1.; and to create 27.01 (7) (f) 2m. and 27.01 (7) (g) 2m. of the statutes; relating to: issuing annual vehicle admission receipts for motor buses for entry to state parks and other vehicle admission areas under the jurisdiction of the Department of Natural Resources.

Analysis by the Legislative Reference Bureau

Current law requires that vehicles entering state parks and certain other properties under the jurisdiction of the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) display a vehicle admission receipt, or sticker. Fees for these stickers are established by statute, with a higher fee for stickers issued for out of state vehicles. For a motor vehicle, the driver may be issued an annual or a daily sticker upon payment of the fee. Under current law, DNR issues daily stickers for buses, but may not issue annual stickers. This bill requires DNR to issue annual stickers for buses from Wisconsin and from other states and sets fees for these stickers.

The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do enact as follows:

AB422, s. 1 Section 1. 27.01 (7) (d) of the statutes is amended to read:

AB422,2,7 27.01 (7) (d) Issuance of vehicle admission receipts. An annual vehicle admission receipt shall be issued by the department and is valid for the calendar year for which it is issued. An annual vehicle admission receipt may not be issued by the department for a motor bus. A daily vehicle admission receipt shall be issued by the department, shall state the date for which it is issued and is effective only for the date issued.

AB422, s. 2 Section 2. 27.01 (7) (f) 1. of the statutes is amended to read:

AB422,2,12 27.01 (7) (f) 1. Except as provided in subd. 2m. and par. (gm), the fee for an annual vehicle admission receipt is $24.50 for each vehicle that has Wisconsin registration plates, except that no fee is charged for a receipt issued under s. 29.235 (6).

AB422, s. 3 Section 3. 27.01 (7) (f) 2m. of the statutes is created to read:

AB422,2,17 27.01 (7) (f) 2m. The fee for an annual vehicle admission receipt for a motor bus that has Wisconsin registration plates is $299.50 and $49.50 for each additional receipt issued for a motor bus that is owned by the same business or entity and that has Wisconsin registration plates.

AB422, s. 4 Section 4. 27.01 (7) (g) 1. of the statutes is amended to read:

AB422,2,22 27.01 (7) (g) 1. Except as provided in subd. 2m. and par. (gm), the fee for an annual vehicle admission receipt is $34.50 for any vehicle that has a registration plate or plates from another state, except that no fee is charged for a receipt issued under s. 29.235 (6).

AB422, s. 5 Section 5. 27.01 (7) (g) 2m. of the statutes is created to read:

The fee for an annual vehicle admission receipt for a motor bus that has a registration plate or plates from another state is $449.50 and $49.50 for each additional receipt issued for a motor bus that is owned by the same business or entity and that has a registration plate or plates from another state.

AB422, s. 6 Section 6. Effective date.

AB422,3,5 (1) This act takes effect on the first day of the 4th month beginning after publication.
