AB921,1,3 An Act to amend 69.22 (1) (c) and 69.22 (1) (c) of the statutes; relating to: the amount chargeable for issuing a certified or uncertified copy of a birth certificate to a nonprofit organization.

Currently, the amount that the state registrar or a local registrar must charge for issuing a certified or uncertified copy of a birth certificate is $20. This amount was increased from $12 under 2007 Wisconsin Act 20 (the biennial budget act), and is in effect until July 1, 2010, at which time it is reduced to $12.

This bill requires that the state registrar or a local registrar charge $12 for issuing a certified or uncertified copy of a birth certificate to a nonprofit organization, until July 1, 2010.

The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do enact as follows:

AB921, s. 1 Section 1. 69.22 (1) (c) of the statutes, as affected by 2007 Wisconsin Act 20, section 1918k, is amended to read:

AB921,2,6 69.22 (1) (c) Twenty dollars for issuing an uncertified copy of a birth certificate or a certified copy of a birth certificate, except $12 for issuing an uncertified copy or certified copy to a nonprofit organization, as defined in s. 77.81 (5), $7 of which shall be forwarded to the secretary of administration as provided in sub. (1m) and credited to the appropriations under s. 20.433 (1) (g) and (h); and $3 for issuing any additional certified or uncertified copy of the same birth certificate issued at the same time.

AB921, s. 2 Section 2 . 69.22 (1) (c) of the statutes, as affected by 2007 Wisconsin Act 20, section 1918L, and 2007 Wisconsin Act .... (this act), is amended to read:

AB921,2,14 69.22 (1) (c) Twelve dollars for issuing an uncertified copy of a birth certificate or a certified copy of a birth certificate, except $12 for issuing an uncertified copy or certified copy to a nonprofit organization, as defined in s. 77.81 (5), $7 of which shall be forwarded to the secretary of administration as provided in sub. (1m) and credited to the appropriations under s. 20.433 (1) (g) and (h); and $3 for issuing any additional certified or uncertified copy of the same birth certificate issued at the same time.

AB921, s. 3 Section 3. Effective dates. This act takes effect on the day after publication, except as follows:

AB921,2,18 (1) The treatment of section 69.22 (1) (c) (by Section 2 ) of the statutes takes effect on July 1, 2010.
