Whereas, the legislature has designated April as Child Abuse Prevention

Whereas, over three million instances of child abuse and neglect were reported
6in the U.S. in 2003; and

Whereas, approximately three children in the United States die from abuse or
8neglect each day; and

Whereas, an average of 8,700 substantiated cases of child abuse were filed in
10the state of Wisconsin each year between the years 2001 and 2005; and

Whereas, every citizen of a community has a responsibility to protect children
12from abuse and find solutions to this devastating problem; and

Whereas, one case of child abuse is one case too many; now, therefore, be it

1Resolved by the assembly, the senate concurring, That we commend the
2many child abuse prevention organizations throughout the state for their work to
3ensure that every child in Wisconsin grows up in a safe and nurturing environment.
