2mathematics programs and making an appropriation.
Analysis by the Legislative Reference Bureau
Under current law, the Department of Public Instruction may award grants to
school districts to develop innovative instructional programs in science, technology,
engineering, and mathematics (STEM); support pupils who are typically
under-represented in these subjects; and increase the academic achievement of
pupils in those subjects. This bill increases the appropriation for STEM grants by
$65,600 in both the 2009-10 and 2010-11 fiscal years.

The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
enact as follows:

AB970,2,74 (1) In the schedule under section 20.005 (3) of the statutes for the appropriation
5to the department of public instruction under section 20.255 (2) (fz) of the statutes,
6as affected by the acts of 2009, the dollar amount is increased by $65,600 for the first

1fiscal year of the fiscal biennium in which this subsection takes effect for the
2purposes for which the appropriation is made. In the schedule under section 20.005
3(3) of the statutes for the appropriation to the department of public instruction under
4section 20.255 (2) (fz) of the statutes, as affected by the acts of 2009, the dollar
5amount is increased by $65,600 for the second fiscal year of the fiscal biennium in
6which this subsection takes effect for the purposes for which the appropriation is
7made.
