2009 - 2010 LEGISLATURE
July 28, 2009 - Introduced by Senators Lassa and Taylor, cosponsored by
Representatives Schneider, Brooks, Jorgensen and Ballweg. Referred to
Committee on Transportation, Tourism, Forestry, and Natural Resources.
SB244,1,2 1An Act to amend 86.195 (2) (ag) 8. of the statutes; relating to: specific
2information signs on certain portions of STH 21.
Analysis by the Legislative Reference Bureau
Under current law, the Department of Transportation may authorize the
erection and maintenance of specific information signs on designated highways
under its jurisdiction. The signs indicate that certain businesses located near a
highway provide motorist services in one or more of the following categories: gas,
food, lodging, camping, or attractions. Currently, specific information signs are
authorized on STH 21 from I 94 north of Tomah to USH 41 at Oshkosh.
This bill eliminates the authorization for specific information signs on STH 21
from I 94 north of Tomah to I 39/USH 51 in Waushara County. The bill does not affect
the current authorization for specific information signs on STH 21 from I 39/USH 51
in Waushara County to USH 41 at Oshkosh.
For further information see the state fiscal estimate, which will be printed as
an appendix to this bill.
