2the Christmas season as the State of Wisconsin Christmas Tree.
AJR82,1,53 Whereas, the state of Wisconsin respects all religious and cultural customs and
4is desirous of properly naming the publicly displayed symbols of our state's diverse
5holiday traditions out of respect for all traditions; and
AJR82,1,86 Whereas, the decorated tree that has been on display in the capitol rotunda
7annually during the Christmas season since 1916 was known as a "Christmas tree"
8until 1985, when state officials began referring to the tree as a "holiday tree"; and
AJR82,1,119 Whereas, the Wisconsin legislature wishes to return to this tradition and join
10numerous other states and public institutions and millions of American families in
11celebrating the Christmas season with a Christmas tree; now, therefore, be it
AJR82,1,14 12Resolved by the assembly, the senate concurring, That the decorated tree
13annually displayed in the capitol rotunda during the Christmas season shall be
14known as the "State of Wisconsin Christmas Tree."
