AJR92,1,42 Whereas, Nathan A. Fishbach was born on November 3, 1952, in Trenton, New
3Jersey, grew up in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and died on September 17, 2011, at the
4age of 58; and
AJR92,1,75 Whereas, Nathan A. Fishbach earned his undergraduate degree, Phi Beta
6Kappa, from George Washington University in 1974, and his law degree from
7Villanova University Law School in 1978; and
AJR92,1,108 Whereas, Nathan A. Fishbach married Susan Stolzer and they moved to the
9state of Wisconsin after law school, where they had three sons: Jeffrey, Brian, and
10Michael; and
AJR92,1,1511 Whereas, Nathan A. Fishbach served in the U.S. Attorney's Office for the
12Eastern District of Wisconsin for 13 years, under presidents of both parties, where
13he held a variety of posts, including Interim U.S. Attorney, Deputy U.S. Attorney, and
14Civil Division Chief, and focused the majority of his work on the prosecution of
15complex financial cases, serving with tremendous skill and dedication; and

1Whereas, Nathan A. Fishbach entered the private practice of law with Whyte
2Hirschboeck Dudek S.C., where he focused his practice for the next 18 years on
3complex civil and white-collar litigation, and represented corporations, government
4entities, and professionals in compliance matters; and
AJR92,2,75 Whereas, Nathan A. Fishbach was a cofounder and past president of the
6Eastern District of Wisconsin Bar Association and a past president of the Milwaukee
7Bar Association; and
AJR92,2,178 Whereas, Nathan A. Fishbach's leadership also included chairing the
9Magistrate Judge Merit Selection Committee-Eastern District of Wisconsin; and the
10State Bar of Wisconsin's Board of Governors; serving on ALFA International's Board
11of Directors; cochairing the Milwaukee Bar Association's Sesquicentennial Steering
12Committee; serving on the Federal Nominating Commission- Wisconsin; Sen. Herb
13Kohl's Advisory Committee on Supreme Court Nominations; Committee on Pattern
14Criminal Jury Instructions for the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit;
15Project Safe Neighborhoods Competitive Grant Program Committee; Advisory
16Committee on Seventh Circuit Rules; and service on his own law firm's Board of
17Directors; and
AJR92,2,2318 Whereas, Nathan A. Fishbach's commitment to the future of the legal
19profession was represented by his service on Marquette University Law School's
20Advisory Board, with frequent presentations in classes to support the next
21generation of lawyers; and championing a comprehensive internal training program
22for younger lawyers at his firm to help advance their professional development as
23skilled lawyers dedicated to ethical client service; and
AJR92,3,324 Whereas, Nathan A. Fishbach's legacy is memorialized in the Nathan Fishbach
25Student Development Fund at Marquette University Law School, a fund established

1by his partners and friends as a lasting tribute, which will enable the school to bring
2in speakers whose experiences and guidance will help future law students gain a
3deeper understanding of the legal profession; and
AJR92,3,64 Whereas, Nathan A. Fishbach shared his broad legal knowledge through
5countless articles, presentations, and books, including Federal Criminal Restitution;
6and coauthor of Wisconsin Methods of Practice (4th edition); and
AJR92,3,137 Whereas, Nathan A. Fishbach's productivity, wisdom, and numerous
8professional achievements earned him dozens of honors and distinctions such as the
9Eastern District of Wisconsin Bar Association's Judge Myron L. Gordon Lifetime
10Achievement Award; Wisconsin Law Journal's Leader in the Law Award; Milwaukee
11Bar Association's Lawyer of the Year Award, and regular appearances in Chambers
12USA, Best Lawyers
and Super Lawyers (Wisconsin Top 50); and American Inns of
13Court 2011 Professionalism Award for the Seventh Circuit; and
AJR92,3,1614 Whereas, Nathan A. Fishbach's vision and commitment to serving his
15community included successful terms as chair of Jewish Family Services and
16president of the Nicolet High School Foundation; and
AJR92,3,1917 Whereas, Nathan A. Fishbach's vibrant spirit, good humor, and unyielding
18dedication to his clients, his colleagues, the legal profession, and the community
19serve as an inspiration to the many lives he touched; now, therefore, be it
AJR92,3,22 20Resolved by the assembly, the senate concurring, That the members of the
21Wisconsin legislature commend the life and service of Nathan A. Fishbach, mourn
22his passing, and extend their condolences to his family and friends; and, be it further
AJR92,3,24 23Resolved, That the assembly chief clerk shall provide a copy of this joint
24resolution to Nathan A. Fishbach's wife, Susan, and their family.
