2China (Taiwan).
SR20,1,53 Whereas, National Celebration Day, also known as Double Ten Day, is
4celebrated every year on October 10th to commemorate the 1911 Wuchang Uprising,
5which led to the collapse of the Qing Dynasty in China; and
SR20,1,86 Whereas, that milestone was quickly followed by the establishment of the
7Republic of China (Taiwan) on January 1, 1912, under the leadership of the visionary
8Dr. Sun Yat-sen; and
SR20,1,109 Whereas, the Republic of China (Taiwan) is both the first and the oldest
10republic in Asia; and
SR20,1,1311 Whereas, the Republic of China (Taiwan) is a vibrant democracy and economic
12powerhouse that protects human rights, governs through the rule of law, and
13continually seeks participation in international affairs; now, therefore, be it
SR20,2,2 14Resolved by the senate, That the members of the senate offer their
15congratulations to President Ma Ying-jeou on the centennial year of the founding of

1the Republic of China (Taiwan) and a century of social, political, and economic
2achievements; and, be it further
SR20,2,6 3Resolved, That the senate chief clerk shall deliver a copy of this resolution to
4President Ma Ying-jeou of the Republic of China (Taiwan), Taiwan Governor Lin
5Junq-tzer, and Director General Perry Shen of the Taipei Economic and Cultural
6Office in Chicago.
