SB1,1,1 1An Act relating to: school district budgets and making an appropriation.
Analysis by the Legislative Reference Bureau
This bill increases the amount appropriated as general school aid in the
2013-14 and 2014-15 school years. The bill also delays the dates by which school
districts must determine the amounts necessary to be raised to operate and maintain
the schools in 2013 from November 1 to November 6.

The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
enact as follows:
SB1,1 2Section 1. Nonstatutory provisions.
SB1,1,63 (1) (a) Notwithstanding section 121.15 (4) (b) of the statutes, the state
4superintendent of public instruction shall calculate the total amount of state aid that
5each school district will receive in the 2013-14 school year by October 31, 2013,
6instead of on October 15, 2013.
SB1,1,87 (b) Notwithstanding section 120.12 (3) and (4) of the statutes, for 2013 the
8references to November 1 in those sections are changed to November 6.

1(c) Notwithstanding section 119.16 (8) (b) of the statutes, for 2013 the reference
2in that section to the first Monday in August is changed to November 6.
SB1,2,43 (d) Notwithstanding section 121.90 (2) (am) 1. of the statutes, for 2013 the
4reference to October 15 in that section is changed to October 31.
SB1,2 5Section 2. Fiscal changes.
SB1,2,156 (1) In the schedule under section 20.005 (3) of the statutes for the appropriation
7to the department of public instruction under section 20.255 (2) (ac) of the statutes,
8as affected by the acts of 2013, the dollar amount is increased by $40,000,000 for the
9first fiscal year of the fiscal biennium in which this subsection takes effect to increase
10funding for the purposes for which the appropriation is made. In the schedule under
11section 20.005 (3) of the statutes for the appropriation to the department of public
12instruction under section 20.255 (2) (ac) of the statutes, as affected by the acts of
132013, the dollar amount is increased by $60,000,000 for the second fiscal year of the
14fiscal biennium in which this subsection takes effect to increase funding for the
15purposes for which the appropriation is made.
