AB571,1,2 1An Act relating to: providing a grant to the city of Milwaukee and making an
2appropriation.
Analysis by the Legislative Reference Bureau
Under current law, the Department of Justice (DOJ) provides grants to cities
to fund programs aimed at crime reduction in neighborhoods that are affected by
high levels of crime. The bill increases, for fiscal year 2013-14, the appropriation for
those grants by $250,000 and directs DOJ to provide a one-time grant in fiscal year
2013-14 of $250,000 to the city of Milwaukee to be used by the city in its firearms
buy-back program.

The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
enact as follows:
AB571,1 3Section 1 . Nonstatutory provisions; Justice.
AB571,2,24 (1) Weapons buy-back program grant. Notwithstanding the purpose for which
5the appropriation under section 20.455 (2) (dg) of the statutes is made, in fiscal year
62013-14, the department of justice shall award to the city of Milwaukee from the

1appropriation under section 20.455 (2) (dg) of the statutes a grant of $250,000, to
2fund the city's firearms buy-back program.

AB571,2,84 (1) Weapons buy-back program grant; general purpose revenue. In the
5schedule under section 20.005 (3) of the statutes for the appropriation to the
6department of justice under section 20.455 (2) (dg) of the statutes, as affected by the
7acts of 2013, the dollar amount is increased by $250,000 in fiscal year 2013-14 to
8fund the grant under Section 1 (1) of this act.
