AJR73,1,32 Whereas, Wisconsin is a land rich in natural beauty and glorious landscapes,
3which should be shared with the children and families of the state; and
AJR73,1,64 Whereas, Wisconsin has led the nation in a long tradition of environmental
5protection and conservation, boasting leaders such as Aldo Leopold, John Muir, and
6Gaylord Nelson; and
AJR73,1,97 Whereas, Wisconsin has a long standing commitment to its natural heritage,
8connecting its people to the land, and passing its heritage and traditions to future
9generations; and
AJR73,1,1210 Whereas, children are losing their connection to the natural world, which
11threatens their health, quality of life, readiness for future job opportunities, and the
12future of our natural resources; and
AJR73,2,213 Whereas, children who frequently spend time outdoors have significantly less
14stress, develop enhanced sensory perception, and experience fewer attention

1difficulties and decreased rates of physical and emotional illness and obesity; now,
2therefore, be it
AJR73,2,5 3Resolved by the assembly, the senate concurring, That the members of the
4Wisconsin legislature recognize that every Wisconsin child should have the
5opportunity to:
AJR73,2,76 discover Wisconsin's diverse wilderness: prairies, forests, wetlands, and
7beaches;
AJR73,2,88 breathe clean air and drink clean water;
AJR73,2,99 splash, play, and swim in safe, clean lakes and rivers;
AJR73,2,1010 visit a working farm;
AJR73,2,1111 share a hunting or fishing experience with a family member, friend, or mentor;
AJR73,2,1212 follow a trail — ride it or walk it;
AJR73,2,1313 play, snowshoe, ski, snowboard, or sled in the snow;
AJR73,2,1414 camp out under the stars;
AJR73,2,1515 eat meals made from local products and ingredients;
AJR73,2,1616 play in the dirt, plant a seed, and grow a garden; and
AJR73,2,1817 explore and connect with Wisconsin's natural spaces and wild places; and, be

AJR73,2,20 19Resolved, That the members of the Wisconsin legislature expect children's
20participation in outdoor activities.
