SJR27,1,22 Whereas, one in four Americans lives with a mental health illness; and
SJR27,1,43 Whereas, May has been observed as National Mental Health Awareness Month
4since 1949; and
SJR27,1,75 Whereas, Mental Health Awareness Month is a time to raise awareness about
6mental illnesses, such as depression, schizophrenia, and bipolar disorder, and draw
7attention to suicide, which may be precipitated by mental illness; and
SJR27,1,98 Whereas, Speaker Robin Vos has established the Speaker's Task Force on
9Mental Health; and
SJR27,1,1110 Whereas, the stigma associated with mental illness prevents many individuals
11from seeking help for themselves or loved ones; and
SJR27,1,1212 Whereas, treatments for mental illnesses are highly effective; and

14compassion, education, and advocacy can draw attention to the proven methods that

2legislature join our colleagues in Congress by proclaiming May as Mental Health
