SJR90,1,42 Whereas, the Renewable Fuel Standard is a program developed by the U.S.
3Environmental Protection Agency to regulate and require that transportation fuel
4sold in the United States contain a minimum volume of renewable fuel; and
SJR90,1,85 Whereas, while 10 percent ethanol blends have become standard at most gas
6stations across the country, the Environmental Protection Agency, along with
7ethanol producers, continues to push for E-15, a 15 percent ethanol blend, despite
8the warnings of auto and engine manufacturers around the world; and
SJR90,1,119 Whereas, Wisconsin's small engine manufacturers like Mercury Marine and
10Briggs & Stratton warn that E-15 can cause severe damage to engines that power
11lawnmowers, chainsaws, snowmobiles, motorcycles, fishing boats and jet skis; and
SJR90,1,1512 Whereas, auto and motorcycle manufacturers have gone so far as to include
13E-15 warning labels on gas caps and owner's manuals to indicate that many engines
14were not designed for increased ethanol content and damage could occur that would
15nullify manufacturer warranties; and

1Whereas, the American Automobile Association says the Environmental
2Protection Agency and gasoline retailers should halt the sale of E-15 and warns that
3just 12 million out of more than 240 million cars, trucks, SUVs, and motorcycles in
4use today have manufacturer approval for E-15; now, therefore, be it
SJR90,2,7 5Resolved by the senate, the assembly concurring, That the members of the
6Wisconsin legislature urge Congress to pass H.R. 875 to scientifically determine the
7effects that E-15 will have on internal combustion engines of all types.
