AB503,1,4 An Act to amend 753.06 (4) (a), 753.06 (6) (k), 753.06 (7) (e), 753.06 (9) (g), 753.06 (9) (L), 753.06 (10) (f) and 753.06 (10) (i) of the statutes; relating to: adding a circuit court branch in Calumet, Wood, Marathon, Dunn, Polk, Jackson, and Vilas counties and making an appropriation.

This bill adds one additional circuit court branch for Calumet, Wood, Marathon, Dunn, and Polk counties, effective August 1, 2016, and one additional circuit court branch for Jackson and Vilas counties, effective August 1, 2017.

The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do enact as follows:

AB503,1 Section 1. 753.06 (4) (a) of the statutes is amended to read:

AB503,1,7 753.06 (4) (a) Calumet County. The circuit has one branch. Commencing August 1, 2016, the circuit has 2 branches.

AB503,2 Section 2. 753.06 (6) (k) of the statutes is amended to read:

AB503,2,2 753.06 (6) (k) Wood County. The circuit has 3 branches. Commencing August 1, 2016, the circuit has 4 branches.

AB503,3 Section 3. 753.06 (7) (e) of the statutes is amended to read:

AB503,2,5 753.06 (7) (e) Jackson County. The circuit has one branch. Commencing August 1, 2017, the circuit has 2 branches.

AB503,4 Section 4. 753.06 (9) (g) of the statutes is amended to read:

AB503,2,8 753.06 (9) (g) Marathon County. The circuit has 5 branches. Commencing August 1, 2016, the circuit has 6 branches.

AB503,5 Section 5. 753.06 (9) (L) of the statutes is amended to read:

AB503,2,11 753.06 (9) (L) Vilas County. The circuit has one branch. Commencing August 1, 2017, the circuit has 2 branches.

AB503,6 Section 6. 753.06 (10) (f) of the statutes is amended to read:

AB503,2,14 753.06 (10) (f) Dunn County. The circuit has 2 branches. Commencing August 1, 2016, the circuit has 3 branches.

AB503,7 Section 7. 753.06 (10) (i) of the statutes is amended to read:

AB503,2,17 753.06 (10) (i) Polk County. The circuit has 2 branches. Commencing August 1, 2016, the circuit has 3 branches.

AB503,8 Section 8. Nonstatutory provisions.

AB503,2,21 (1) The initial election for circuit judge for branch 2 of the circuit court for Calumet County shall be at the spring election of 2016 for terms commencing August 1, 2016, and ending July 31, 2022.

AB503,2,24 (2) The initial election for circuit judge for branch 4 of the circuit court for Wood County shall be at the spring election of 2016 for terms commencing August 1, 2016, and ending July 31, 2022.

AB503,3,3 (3) The initial election for circuit judge for branch 6 of the circuit court for Marathon County shall be at the spring election of 2016 for terms commencing August 1, 2016, and ending July 31, 2022.

AB503,3,6 (4) The initial election for circuit judge for branch 3 of the circuit court for Dunn County shall be at the spring election of 2016 for terms commencing August 1, 2016, and ending July 31, 2022.

AB503,3,9 (5) The initial election for circuit judge for branch 3 of the circuit court for Polk County shall be at the spring election of 2016 for terms commencing August 1, 2016, and ending July 31, 2022.

AB503,3,12 (6) The initial election for circuit judge for branch 2 of the circuit court for Jackson County shall be at the spring election of 2017 for terms commencing August 1, 2017, and ending July 31, 2023.

AB503,3,15 (7) The initial election for circuit judge for branch 2 of the circuit court for Vilas County shall be at the spring election of 2017 for terms commencing August 1, 2017, and ending July 31, 2023.

AB503,3,20 (8) The authorized FTE positions for the circuit courts are increased by 5.0 GPR circuit judge positions on August 1, 2016, to be funded from the appropriation under section 20.625 (1) (a) of the statutes, to provide 5 circuit court judges for the circuit court branches created by this act in Calumet, Wood, Marathon, Dunn, and Polk counties.

AB503,3,25 (9) The authorized FTE positions for the circuit courts are increased by 5.0 GPR court reporter positions on August 1, 2016, to be funded from the appropriation under section 20.625 (1) (a) of the statutes, to provide 5 court reporters for the circuit court branches created by this act in Calumet, Wood, Marathon, Dunn, and Polk counties.

AB503,4,4 (10) The authorized FTE positions for the circuit courts are increased by 2.0 GPR circuit judge positions on August 1, 2017, to be funded from the appropriation under section 20.625 (1) (a) of the statutes, to provide 2 circuit court judges for the circuit court branches created by this act in Jackson and Vilas counties.

AB503,4,8 (11) The authorized FTE positions for the circuit courts are increased by 2.0 GPR court reporter positions on August 1, 2017, to be funded from the appropriation under section 20.625 (1) (a) of the statutes, to provide 2 court reporters for the circuit court branches created by this act in Jackson and Vilas counties.

AB503,9 Section 9. Fiscal changes.

AB503,4,13 (1) In the schedule under section 20.005 (3) of the statutes for the appropriation to the director of state courts under section 20.680 (2) (a) of the statutes, as affected by the acts of 2015, the dollar amount for fiscal year 2016-17 is increased by $12,000 to establish a law library for each circuit court judge in the state.
