Whereas, Wisconsin's teachers are a major presence and influence on
3thousands of children throughout the state; and

Whereas, teachers impart to Wisconsin's children the knowledge, skills, and
5motivation to become engaged and informed state citizens; and

Whereas, approximately 60,000 teachers educate 870,000 students in public
7schools throughout the state; and

Whereas, private and home-based education teachers in the state are
9responsible for another 140,000 students combined; and

Whereas, through professional development, teachers continue to navigate the
11changing landscape of education to prepare Wisconsin students for the future; and

Whereas, many communities celebrated Teacher Appreciation Week from May
134 through 8 and Teacher Appreciation Day on May 5, taking the opportunity to

1Resolved by the assembly, That the Wisconsin assembly expresses its
2gratitude to all Wisconsin's teachers, and recognizes their importance to our state's
