This bill prohibits a law enforcement agency from establishing a policy or
engaging in a practice of enforcing laws in a manner that is intended primarily to
raise revenue.
The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
enact as follows:
SB399,1 3Section 1. 175.53 of the statutes is created to read:
SB399,1,8 4175.53 Prohibited policy or practice; law enforcement. No law
5enforcement agency, as defined in s. 165.83 (1) (b), may establish a policy or engage
6in a practice of enforcing civil, traffic, or criminal laws in a manner that is intended
7primarily to raise revenue for the agency, the state, or a political subdivision, as
8defined in s. 175.46 (1) (e).
