SB496,1,2 1An Act to create 347.435 of the statutes; relating to: mounting a motor vehicle
2monitoring device to the front windshield of a vehicle.

This bill allows a person to operate a motor vehicle that has a monitoring and
feedback device mounted to the front windshield.
Under current law, no person may drive a motor vehicle upon a highway with
any object so placed as to obstruct the driver's clear view through the front
windshield. This bill allows a person to operate a motor vehicle that has a monitoring
and feedback device mounted to the front windshield directly above, behind, or below
the rearview mirror.
The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
enact as follows:
SB496,1 3Section 1. 347.435 of the statutes is created to read:
SB496,1,6 4347.435 Vehicle monitoring and feedback. (1) Notwithstanding s. 346.88,
5a person may operate a vehicle that has a device mounted to the front windshield if
6all of the following apply:
SB496,2,2
1(a) The device is designed to monitor the vehicle and provide feedback to the
2operator for the purpose of safety or improving vehicle operation.
SB496,2,53 (b) The device is mounted directly above, behind, or below the mirror required
4in s. 347.40 (1) or, if no mirror is present, at the location where the mirror would
5typically be mounted.
