AB1056,1,2 1An Act relating to: the mental health training support program for school staff
2and making an appropriation.
Analysis by the Legislative Reference Bureau
Under current law, the Department of Public Instruction must establish a
mental health training support program to provide training to school district staff
and instructional staff of independent charter schools on screening, brief
intervention, and referral to treatment program, also known as SBIRT, trauma
sensitive schools, and youth mental health first aid. This bill increases the funding
for this mental health training support program by $1,000,000 for the 2018-19
school year.

The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
enact as follows:

AB1056,2,24 (1) Mental health training program. In the schedule under section 20.005 (3)
5of the statutes for the appropriation to the department of public instruction under

1section 20.255 (1) (ep) of the statutes, the dollar amount for fiscal year 2018-19 is
2increased by $1,000,000 for the purposes for which the appropriation is made.
