2017 - 2018 LEGISLATURE
April 10, 2017 - Introduced by Representatives Riemer, C. Taylor, Anderson,
Berceau, Bowen and Brostoff, cosponsored by Senator Miller. Referred to
Committee on Judiciary.
AB217,1,2 1An Act to amend 20.923 (2) (a) and 20.923 (2) (e) of the statutes; relating to:
2reducing the annual salary of the attorney general.
Analysis by the Legislative Reference Bureau
Under current law, the annual salary of the attorney general is 18 percent above
the minimum of the salary range for executive salary group ten. (The annual salary
of the current attorney general is $142,966.) This bill provides that the annual salary
of the attorney general is $132,966. Because the Wisconsin Constitution prohibits
any decrease in compensation for a public officer during the term in office, this bill
will reduce the annual salary of the attorney general during the next term of office.
The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
enact as follows:
