1An Act to create 302.386 (7) of the statutes;

Analysis by the Legislative Reference Bureau
This bill allows only medical personnel with credentials equal to or greater than
those of a licensed practical nurse to administer or distribute prescription
medication to a person placed in a juvenile correctional facility or secured residential
care center for children and youth. This bill exempts from this limitation insulin
dispensed pursuant to a prescription. Current law does not specify the personnel
who are authorized to distribute or administer medication in these facilities.
The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
enact as follows:

(7) (a) In this subsection, “prescription" has the meaning given in s.
677.51 (10n).

(b) 1. Except as provided in subd. 2., only medical personnel with credentials
8equal to or greater than those of a licensed practical nurse may administer or
1distribute a medication dispensed pursuant to a prescription to a person placed in
2a juvenile correctional facility or secured residential care center for children and
3youth.
