AB696,1,2 1An Act to create 302.072 of the statutes; relating to: correctional officer
2required to be present when staff interacts with a segregated prisoner.

This bill requires that a correctional officer be present during each interaction
between a prisoner who is in segregated status and a staff member who is not a
correctional officer.

The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
enact as follows:
AB696,1 3Section 1. 302.072 of the statutes is created to read:
AB696,1,7 4302.072 Officer presence required. If a prisoner who is in segregated status
5interacts with a staff member who is not a correctional officer, the warden or
6superintendent of the prison shall ensure that a correctional officer is present during
7the entire interaction.
