AJR51,1,2 1Relating to: recognizing the value and need for employment services for individuals
2with developmental disabilities.
AJR51,1,63 Whereas, facility-based programs, such as day programs, training centers, and
4sheltered workshops, give Wisconsin residents with developmental disabilities the
5opportunity to gain new skills, meet new people, and make meaningful contributions
6to society; and
AJR51,1,107 Whereas, many Wisconsin residents with developmental disabilities choose to
8participate in programs offered by facility-based day programs, training centers,
9and sheltered workshops and receive great personal and social benefit from doing so;
10and
AJR51,1,1411 Whereas, the parents, guardians, and caregivers of many Wisconsin residents
12with developmental disabilities are very supportive of facility-based day programs,
13training centers, and sheltered workshops and can attest to the benefits their
14programs provide; and
AJR51,2,3
1Whereas, often, funding for services provided by facility-based day programs,
2training centers, and sheltered workshops is obtained through home and

AJR51,2,84 Whereas, Medicaid waiver programs, including home and community-based

13Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services significantly change the home and
14community-based services Medicaid waiver program and will reduce opportunities
15for individuals with developmental disabilities to participate in programs offered by
16facility-based day programs, training centers, and sheltered workshops; and
AJR51,2,1917 Whereas, individuals with developmental disabilities should be free to choose
18the settings in which they receive services, including facility-based day programs,
19training centers, and sheltered workshops; now, therefore, be it
AJR51,2,24 20Resolved by the assembly, the senate concurring, That the members of the
21Wisconsin legislature recognize the value and need for facility-based day programs,
22training centers, and sheltered workshops and permitting individuals with
23developmental disabilities to freely choose the settings in which they wish to receive
24employment services.
